OCTOBER COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT-

posted in: Community Service | 0

Since the month of October is Breast Awareness Month, our event will be on supporting women who have been diagnosed with cancer. There is a local non profit organization, Team Michelle, started by a woman who is a breast cancer survivor. She is amazing and her organization has several fun events each year that raise money for cancer research. https://teammichelle.org Team Michelle also sends care bags to people who have been diagnosed with cancer. The bags are filled with items that help them through their time in the hospital, during chemo, or recovering at home. We will be collecting items to fill our own bags this month. Our goal is to fill 20 bags! We are asking for the items listed below:

Eye Pillows

Warm, fuzzy socks

Soft, warm hats

Dry mouth lozenges

Chapstick

Water bottles

Box of Note cards

Adult coloring books and thin markers

Candles

Hand lotion

Hand sanitizer

Soft throws do keep them warm during chemo

$5-$10 Starbucks, Target, or Crumbl gift cards

Boxes of green or peppermint tea (help with nausea and headaches)

Bags of dark chocolate covered pomegranate and acai berries (antioxidants)

Book of crossword puzzles/Sodoku

Nice note to go in bags showing support

Every $10 spent will get one hour of service with five hours (or $50) maximum.  Also, if you know of anyone who you would like to receive one of these bags, please let me know.

Please drop off these items at the Constantian house or Newell house with your daughter’s name, year, amount of hours, and sales receipt between today and Date CHANGED to October 28th.  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
