LOVE FOR OUR ELDERS – Community Service

posted in: Community Service | 0

This month we will be doing a community service project, LOVE FOR OUR ELDERS,  that involves the elderly people in our community.  We will be writing letters to people who may be lonely and would love a card or letter to lift their spirits. Please follow the specifications below in order to make them appropriate for the people receiving them. Every five cards will total one service hour with a three hour maximum. Please take your time to make this attractive, legible, and meaningful. This event starts today, September 11 and will end Friday, September 30th. Please drop off all cards at one of the usual houses (Stacey or Tracey) in a ziplock bag with your name, amount of cards, and team level.

Thank you!

Write a letter of hope and encouragement to a senior citizen to lift and encourage them. Many senior citizens are fearful and cut off from loved ones. Letters will be delivered to local senior care centers.

1. Please write letters on cardstock folded in half

2. Letters must be legible (large print) and handwritten (no typewritten)

3. Be encouraging, hopeful, and positive.

4.  Letters are meaningful when they are from the heart, include some personal experience or feeling, and have details.

5.  Please avoid religion or religious language as recipients are very diverse.

6.  Exclude the date

7. Be creative. Consider using color and feel free to be artistic–though you do not need to be an artist.

8. Encourage friends and family members to join in writing senior letters.

Drop letters off at one of these addresses:
